Unwanted hair and ingrown hairs affects both women and men. The excess production of androgens (male hormones, such as testosterone) is accountable for the extra hair growth, which can appear in unanticipated places. The medical term for excessive hair growth that affect both men and women is hypertrichosis. This can fuel nervousness, unhappiness and other emotional and psychological problems. Self-esteem and quality of life may also suffer. But there are now effective treatments accessible to treat the skin.

We have found in our experience in most cases the end results to be lasting and very gratifying for our clients. How Does it Work?

Laser hair removal treatments reduce unwanted hair from  your face or body. Laser hair removal works by passing light through the skin into the hair follicle, destroying the cells so that they’re no longer able to produce hair. After each treatment, you’ll notice a gradual reduction in the amount of hair growing back.

What Happens During Treatment ?

The first step is to have a free consultation at our experienced and certified clinic. We will explain how the technology works and discuss the most effective program available for treating your acne or acne scars. You will be provided with a quote, and we will take information about your medical history.

Before Laser Hair Removal Treatment

We offer a free consultation and skin analysis with your initial appointment.Everyone’s skin is different, so our therapist will take great care to tailor your treatment to your needs. You will have a patch test to determine which laser can produce the safest, most effective results for your skin type. Longer wavelength lasers suit darker skin as they go deeper, bypassing melanin to avoid causing burns.

At your consultation you will have a patch test, which allows us to select not only the right laser for your skin type, but to calibrate it exactly to achieve the best results possible, whilst ensuring the highest safety at all times. It's important to tell us if your skin is not its usual colour - for instance if you have a tan, or have had a recent reaction to something, as this can dramatically affect our ability to give you the best treatment.

During Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicle with laser light, this energy damages and goes on to destroy the hair follicle, thus stopping the follicle from producing further hairs. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the hair follicle whilst the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.

This process is called selective photothermolysis (photo- means light and thermolysis means to destroy with heat). It is selective as it targets the hair and not the skin. Laser hair removal is not electrolysis, electrolysis works by directing an electric current into each individual hair follicle which is painful and time consuming. Lasers on the other hand can target a large amount of hairs in one go, in a much less painful manner.

How Many Treatments Needed?

We recommend a min six sessions. However, depending on many factors that are discussed in the consultation we cannot advise how many sessions shall be needed for any individual in order to complete the treatment fully. London Body centre also cannot guarantee success or longevity of the treatment as there are several factors including the pre and post care, lifestyle, contraceptive and medical conditions that can alter the results both imminently and long term.

This will vary depending on the area treated, the response of the individual, what has been done to the hair in the past and any underlying medical conditions.

Facts You Need to Know

All body & facial hair goes through 3 distinct phases of growth; Anagen, Catagen & Telogen. At any time, 85% of your hair is in the anagen phase (active growth) which where you get best results from a laser hair removal treatment. This is because the follicle (dermal papilla) is closest to the skins surface. The laser beam targets the follicle, heats it & destroys the hair.

The advanced Soprano laser hair removal technology we use generally causes no damage to your skin.

There is no downtime associated with this treatment, so you can return to work straight after your laser hair removal procedure. You may notice some redness in the treatment area, but this will soon subside.

We recommend a course of minimum six sessions for optimal results from your laser hair removal treatment.

Our laser hair removal treatment with the advanced Laser is a gentle, comfortable treatment. Most of our clients describe the experience as a warming sensation as the laser moves across their skin.

For treatments on your face you will need a four - six week gap between appointments and for the body you will need approx 2 - 3 weeks gap. This is for the reason that the hair cycle on these different types of hairs differs slightly and it is important to catch the hair during an active stage.

Avoid sun exposure at least two weeks before your treatment, wait for tanned skin to fade before beginning your treatments. Do not bleach, pluck or wax during your course of treatments.

Yes. In fact 38% of our clients are now men. Some of the keymotives for its popularity among men is that is hassle free and doesn’t require regular treatments for life like waxing or shaving. Rather once your treatments are finished, that it.

Typically, men require a minimum of 8 treatments and usually up to 4 top up treatments to entirely remove all the hair. This is due to the higher levels of testosterone that men have, meaning that it requires more treatments to achieve smooth, hair free skin.

Laser hair removal is suitable for all skin types. Same day free consultations available. Having a affluence of knowledge in treating different skin types, here at London Body Centre we have the capability and confidence to deliver you with the best laser hair removal treatments for all Asian and dark skin types.

Results can be seen from your first laser hair removal treatment on some people. It is important to remember that each individual is different therefore results can widely vary.

The treatment time differs upon the size of the area being treated. A treatment could take as little as 10 minutes for smaller areas and up to 1 hour for a full body treatment.

IPL (intense pulse light) treatment produces energy by a lamp, a little like a light bulb, and produces a variety of waves. Unlike Laser hair removal these waves cannot specifically target the hair follicles.

This results in only some of the light energy being used effectively, because of this deeper, thicker hair is not treated.  In addition, some of the light can be absorbed into the surrounding tissue, leading to heating of the pigment in the skin. This is why there is a higher risk of burns for darker skin types with IPL.
