What is Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening can be a very effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It cannot make a complete colour change, but it may lighten the existing shade.

How Does it work?

What to Expect; We offer an in-office treatment that uses a special light and whitening gel to lift teeth as many as 8 shades in one visit.

After an initial consultation we will apply a whitening solution and activating light to innate the whitening process. Treatments are often fallowed by an at-home kit for maintenance.

Advantages: Quick, noticeable results in as little as one visit, Brightening of up to 8 shades is possible.

Disadvantages: Effects are dramatic and likely to be noticed immediately.

What Happens During Treatment ?

The first step is to have a free consultation at our experienced and certified clinic. We will explain how the technology works and discuss the most effective program available for treating your acne or acne scars. You will be provided with a quote, and we will take information about your medical history.

Before Laser teeth Whitening Treatment

Prior to all treatments a professional consultation is carried out by one of our experts. What really sets us apart is the fact that we give our clients a very clear idea of the likely results during the free consultation period itself and prior to any treatment taking place.

We do this by taking a shade sample of the teeth’s colour, which is then compared to the likely colour of teeth that will be achieved after treatment, giving you very clear and visible results. Teeth are then cleaned thoroughly with an activator to prepare teeth for treatment, this will also remove accumulated debris ensuring treatment is most effective.

During Teeth Whitening Treatment

Teeth are then coated with our specially formed whitening agent containing either a hydrogen peroxide or non-peroxide based solution. After applying the special mouth guard, a high energy Blue Spectrum LED light is distributed evenly over the teeth.

This is proven to be the most effective wavelength to initiate molecules within the whitening agent without overheating and damaging any part of the teeth. Typically, this process is completed in two to three 20-30 minute cycles. The full teeth whitening session is completed within 60 minutes with amazing and instant results left for you to enjoy.

After Teeth Whitening Treatment

Your teeth whitening results are then verified, confirmed, and recorded. Professional aftercare and maintenance advice is provided ensuring results are maximized well into the future. The effect teeth whitening can have on your quality of life can be substantial.

A bright, white smile can help you feel more confident, boost your self-esteem, and make you more willing to partake in social situations.

Teeth whitening can do far more than revitalize your smile – it can revitalize your self-image, your mannerisms, and the impression that you make on others.

Teeth Whitening Treatment FAQ

There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.

Your teeth can also be stained on the surface by food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth.

‘Calculus' or tartar can also affect the colour of your teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or by tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains.

Professional whitening is the most usual method of tooth whitening. On your consultation London Body Centre will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment, and will supervise it if you are. Firstly, we will put a rubber shield or a gel on your gums to protect them. They will then apply the whitening product to your teeth, using a specially made tray which fits into your mouth like a mouthguard.

The ‘active ingredient' in the product is usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. As the active ingredient is broken down, oxygen gets into the enamel on the teeth and the tooth colour is made lighter.

The total treatment can usually be done within one session that can last up to 2 hours to achieve satisfactory results. Our teeth whitening treatments usually take around 60 minutes. The results are instant, but you will remain in our care for approximately an hour and a half to ensure complete satisfaction and after care advice.

The effects of whitening are thought to last up to three years. However, this will vary from person to person. The effect is less likely to last as long if you smoke, or eat or drink products that can stain your teeth. Ask us at London Body Centre for our opinion before you start the treatment.Generally, your teeth should retain their whiteness for approximately 18-24 months following your treatment.

Some people may find that their teeth become sensitive to cold during or after the treatment. Others may have discomfort in the gums, a sore throat, or white patches on the gum line. These symptoms are usually temporary and should disappear within a few days of the treatment finishing.

Tooth whitening can only lighten your existing tooth colour. Also it only works on natural teeth. It will not work on any types of ‘false' teeth such as dentures, crowns and veneers.

If your dentures are stained or discoloured visit your dental team and ask for them to be cleaned.

London Body Centre will give you an  in depth aftercare consultation. You can help to keep your teeth white by cutting down on the amount of food and drinks you have that can stain teeth. Don't forget, stopping smoking can also help prevent discolouration and staining.

We recommend the following tips to take care of your teeth:

-brush your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day, with a fluoride toothpaste

-cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks

-visit your dental team regularly, as often as they recommend.

All treatments are carried out by fully qualified dentists to enable the highest proficiency in the teeth whitening process. Combined with substantial experience, this facilitates their capacity to perform treatments to the highest standard.

All treatments are carried out by fully qualified and insured practioners.

That’s correct, there are no additional charges incurred for a consultation and it is carried out completely free of charge.

Treatments are usually carried out on the same day as your free consultation for your convenience.
