Waxing is a hair removal method which is semi-permanent in nature and removes the hair from the root. It will take around two to eight weeks for new hair to grow back; however, in some individuals, there is re-growth in a week. Almost all the areas of the body can be waxed such as eyebrows, face, legs, arms, back, abdomen, bikini area and feet. There are different types of waxing for removing unwanted hair.
Waxing has many benefits when compared to other forms of hair removal. Waxing effectively removes large amounts of hair at a single time and is longer-lasting than other methods of hair removal.
In waxing, hair will take around two to eight weeks to grow back; however, in some individuals, there is re-growth in a week. In other hair removal methods, such as shaving or using depilatory cream, the hair is removed at the surface and not at the root (as in waxing). So, the hair grows back within a few days and in rough stubble. Whereas after waxing, the skin feels silky smooth for weeks to come. Another benefit of waxing is repeated waxing over long periods of time makes the hair finer in appearance.
Things to remember
Do… wear loose, comfortable underwear to put on afterwards.
Do… shower prior to your appointment.
Do… trim the hair if fairly long. If you’re not sure, leave it.
Do… make sure the hair is at least 1mm long. Too short and the hairs will not come out.
Do… lightly exfoliate between treatments to avoid ingrowing hairs.
Do… book your treatments 3-4 weeks apart. The longer you leave it the more painful it might be.
Don’t… shave between treatments. This will cause the hair to grow back thicker and therefore can be more painful.
Expert Waxing Hair Removal
Hot waxing is done using hot wax. Here the wax is applied in a somewhat thick layer (when compared to strip wax). The wax is then allowed to cool down and it hardens as it cools down and is removed by the therapist without using the cloth or paper strips removing hair along with the wax. People who have sensitive skin are recommended this waxing method.
What can you expect upon booking with London Body Centre?
The idea of getting naked from the waist down in front of a complete stranger so they can rip hairs out of your intimate area is not anyone’s idea of fun. However, no pain, no gain! Feeling clean and smooth without the uncomfortable shaving rash is definitely worth it.
How Does it Work?
Strip waxing (soft wax) is accomplished by spreading a wax thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is applied and pressed firmly, adhering the strip to the wax and the wax to the skin. The strip is then quickly ripped against the direction of hair growth, as parallel as possible to the skin to avoid trauma to the skin. This removes the wax along with the hair.
What Happens During Treatment ?
Before Waxing Treatment
We offer a free consultation and skin analysis with your initial appointment. Everyone’s skin is different, so our therapist will take great care to tailor your treatment to your needs. You will have a patch test to ensure we can produce the safest, most effective results for your skin type.
During Waxing Treatment
Hot Wax is applied onto the skin and allowed to dry slightly before peeling off swiftly and gently. Hot wax areas are not sticky afterwards.
Wax is ideal for less sensitive skin such as arms and legs. The strip wax is spreaded thinly over the area then a paper strip is applied and pulled off, leaving smooth sexy skin!Ssuitable for facial areas and underarms.
How Many Treatments Needed?
Treatments should be 3-4 weeks apart. The longer you leave it the more painful it might be.
Facts You Need to Know
*There should be a significant hair growth, about 1/4" to 1/8" or 3 weeks of hair growth before waxing.
*Using a loofah helps in exfoliating the skin surface.
*When the wax is applied, it should surround/cover the root of the hair shaft.
*Applying lotion or deodorant before waxing should be avoided.
*People who are taking antibiotics, Retin-A, using oral acne prescription medications, anti-aging products should avoid waxing, as these products may cause rapid exfoliation of the skin resulting in scabbing. Also, a test patch should be done before performing waxing in these individuals.
*There should be a gap of 24 to 48 hours after waxing is done before sun bathing or using tanning beds, as the skin is very sensitive immediately after waxing.
*Last, but not the least, after starting waxing, shaving should be discontinued. If you shave in between waxing, then you won't experience the full benefits of waxing. So, once you have chosen waxing as your hair removal method, stick to it.

Nudists beware! Don't bare your bits in the sun 24 hours after waxing, or use saunas, because the skin is less protected.
Hair needs to be about 1/2 cm long before it can be waxed, particularly if it has been previously shaved, so please allow at least 3 weeks since your last shave and at least 4 weeks between wax treatments. If your hair is very long, please trim it to about 1cm prior to your intimate waxing appointment. It’s recommended that you gently exfoliate the area to be treated, beginning 2-3 days before your waxing appointment. This removes any dead skin and lifts the hair which makes it easier to remove, and results in a smoother finish for you.
We want you to look and feel great after your wax treatment. It’s normal to experiences light redness or small bumps after waxing but these will usually subside within 24-48 hours. You can minimise any after-effects by following these guidelines during that period:
No hot baths or showers
No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments
No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)
No sport, gym, work or other heavy exercise
Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands
Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools
Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.
If you have any form of contagious skin condition we are unable to wax the affected area until the condition has cleared up. Sunburned, chaffed or broken skin cannot be waxed until it is completely healed. Clients who are taking Accutane will need to delay having a wax treatment until at least six months after completing their medication. Skin that has been treated with steroid creams, Retin-A or any other retinoid acne products cannot be waxed for three months after the course of treatment has been completed.
Waxing is very rarely perfect the first time as there are three phases to hair growth. To be removed successfully, hair has to be growing in a specific phase. It’s not until you’re waxed a 3rd, 4th, and possibly 5th time (4 – 6 weeks apart), that waxing is completely effective, as by this time most of your hair will be in the same growth phase.
