Dermal fillers are small injections of gel, typically made up of Hyaluronic acid, that fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue. You can have dermal fillers in different parts of your face: around the eye, cheeks, mouth and jawline, as well as lip fillers administered directly into the lip tissue. Fillers restore lost volume to your face and plump areas, so that deep-set lines are smoothed out.
Did you know that many visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss? As facial tissues thin out, lines become etched around the nose and mouth and cheeks look a little hollow. Dermal fillers can replace lost volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump the lips, and restore a more youthful appearance. Dermal filler is a highly effective cosmetic injectable treatment to enhance, lift, and contour your face, helping you to achieve a naturally, refreshed and revitalized look.
The treatment is quick, practically painless and delivers instant results that can last between six to 18 months depending on the style of dermal filler used and the treatment area. Because of this, it’s one of our most popular cosmetic injectable treatments.

Following a consultation, we will check your medical history and suitability for dermal fillers treatment. Our trained practitioners will inject filler into the treatment area. Treatment usually takes around 45 minutes and you will be able to return to work from 0-24 hours with the perfect results.
Fortunately, today, you can reduce the signs and symptoms of aging by restoring the hyaluronic acid you’re losing. That’s exactly why the majority of dermal fillers available today feature hyaluronic acid.
This acid binds powerfully to water. Then, when it is injected, it hydrates, softens and volumizes your skin for a young, healthy look.
Another popular type of filler is a biostimulatory filler, which is also known to be effective. What’s so great about today’s hyaluronic acid and biostimulatory fillers is that they offer predictable and consistent results.
In addition, most fillers feature lidocaine, or lidocaine can be added to them. The benefit of lidocaine is that it significantly reduces the discomfort patients may feel when undergoing filler injections.
Immediate Results and No Downtime
One of the biggest benefits of using dermal fillers? They provide immediate results. Once you undergo a filler injection, you will notice your appearance transform soon thereafter.
On top of this, you don’t have to worry about recovery time like you would following plastic surgery.
In fact, you can complete the filler treatment in just 10 minutes depending on the number of areas needing treatment. Then, you’re free to continue your daily errands or even go back to work. In fact, a filler treatment is sometimes described as a “lunchtime facelift.” Talk about a life-changing lunch break.
The side affects you may experience as a result of your filler treatment are minimal. Just a little swelling or redness near your injection site is normal. Even then, this swelling and redness should disappear within several hours or one day. In the meantime, you can simply cover it up with makeup.
You may more commonly experience bruising, but you can typically avoid this by following your practitioner’s instructions prior to your filler treatment appointment.
Long-Lasting Effects
Yet another benefit of fillers is the lasting results you’ll enjoy after getting them.
In the majority of cases, you’ll stay looking more youthful and beautiful for about one year. However, you might want to go in for a quick touch-up appointment in four to six months following your initial treatment.
It’s in your best interest to maintain your filler results. You can do this simply by scheduling your next treatment before your filler has had the chance to metabolize completely.
Beneficial for the Skin
Most fillers feature a natural skin component that help the skin — a major plus for patients interested in getting filler injections.
Hyaluronic acid present in fillers are naturally occurring substances in the skin. Thus, when they are injected, they’ll feel natural beneath your skin.
It’s just another reason to love the skin you’re in after you get a filler treatment.
Subtle Results
If you choose to receive dermal fillers, you’ll also love how subtle and natural looking the results are. That’s exactly what you want if you’re like most patients.
After all, who honestly wants to look like a totally different individual after the treatment than he or she was before it? You simply want to be the best version of yourself.
With dermal fillers, the majority of people won’t even know what you had done. All they’ll notice is that you look amazing.
Self-Confidence Builder
This is a no-brainer when it comes to the life-changing advantages of dermal fillers.
People who receive fillers generally improve their self-confidence following their treatment. They simply love how their fillers look and feel. At the hands of an experienced aesthetic practitioner, you can achieve amazing natural looking results and love how you look like never before.
Plumpness
As you grow older, your skin will lose collagen and fat. In other words, you’ll lose your youthful plumpness.
Replacing the young, healthy look you’ve become accustomed to will be a hollowed-out look and more blatantly obvious wrinkles — clear signs of advancing age. Fortunately, fillers help to counteract these problems by making your skin plumper.
In the end, you’ll end up with fuller-looking cheeks as well as fewer facial wrinkles — You can’t beat that.
Botox Complements Them
Another perk of using fillers? Botox complements fillers perfectly!
As you get fillers, you might notice that a few of the wrinkles on your face are particularly deep — especially those on your forehead and glabella. Or maybe you notice vertical lip lines near your mouth.
In these situations, you may want to receive a Botox or Dysport treament. This product will temporarily reduce the muscle activity responsible for your deep wrinkles and frown lines. It’s perfect for tackling those lines and wrinkles that dermal fillers won’t eliminate.
With the powerful combination of fillers and Botox or Dysport, you may be able to delay or even avoid surgery, such as a facelift, down the road.
Good for Your Lips
Of course, fillers aren’t just good for filling in wrinkles and cheeks. Fillers can work wonders for your lips.
Tired of thin lips? Fillers can make your lips look plumper and sexier. At the same time, it’ll soften the appearance of annoying wrinkles around the mouth.
With dermal fillers, you can finally stop feeling self-conscious when it comes to your lips. In fact, your lips just might become your favorite feature.
Just be sure to get lip fillers with an experienced aesthetic practitioner to ensure yourself an experience that is safe and that yields natural looking results.
Say Goodbye to Scars
A major advantage of springing for fillers is that they can improve the appearance of scars.
This is a big deal if you’ve spent years applying makeup to hide unsightly scars as a result of acne, for example. Your practitioner can help you to determine if dermal fillers are an option for treating certain scars.
Boost Your Collagen
Last but not least, biostimulatory fillers, like Radiesse and Sculptra will stimulate the body’s natural collagen.
A major reason that your skin ages as you get older is that collagen production declines. This is accelerated if someone has a lot of sun damage.
Collagen is one of your skin’s essential building blocks. When collagen ends up breaking down, the signs of aging is more apparent. This includes having coarse skin texture and wrinkles.
Dermal fillers, however, can help your body stimulate more of its own collagen, just as a younger individual’s skin does. This translates to the younger, healthier-looking skin you’re after — in a natural way.
Dermal filler is a smooth injectable gel containing hyaluronic acid designed to replace the hyaluronic acid you have lost. It does this by filling the space of volume loss which improves folds and wrinkles, as well as attracting water to replenish moisture to your skin. It also has a biological effect on your own hyaluronic acid by encouraging it to increase collagen and elastin production which improves skin integrity and quality. Overall this restores a natural and youthful appearance.
We offer a free consultation and skin analysis with your initial appointment. Everyone’s skin is different, so our therapist will take great care to tailor your treatment to your needs. Dermal Fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is a substance that naturally occurs in the dermis of the skin. It can be found in many beauty products, as it is a hydrophilic molecule, meaning that it attracts water. It can hold up to 1000 x its own weight in water making it an excellent hydrator. Some common brands of lip fillers are Restylane, Juvederm, Beloterol, Teosayal, Emervel now rebranded with Restylane, Perfectha etc. We do not use permanent lip fillers at the London Body Centre.
Fillers are a cosmetic treatment, and like all medical procedures, there is always a chance that something could go wrong. However, if performed by experienced and qualified practitioners, it is a safe procedure.
The legislation in the UK for those offering injectable treatments is practically non-existent. You can go to a plastic surgeon, a dermatologist, a cosmetic doctor, a dentist, a nurse, and even a chiropodist or a beautician or indeed anyone who advertises the treatment! Non-medical practitioners definitely will not be able to look after you or prescribe if anything unexpected happens. What’s more, qualified experienced practitioners will be able to use an enzyme to dissolve the filler should that be advised.
At London Body Centre cosmetic doctors and aesthetic nurses have been providing lip filler treatments for many years, are all qualified and very experienced with dermal filler treatments.
All injectable aesthetic procedures should be performed in a clinical setting with aseptic techniques. We do not believe hairdressing salons or gyms or someone’s home offer this clinical standard.
It might be difficult to believe from the horror stories out there, but dermal filler treatment is not that painful. Of course, the discomfort level will mostly depend on your doctor’s technique and your own pain tolerance.
At London Body Centre, we suggest you apply a strong numbing cream such as EMLA min of 1 hour pre the treatment.
The Dermal filler even has a dose of the painkiller lidocaine mixed in the gel, which will further help to numb the area.
The treatment itself involves injections using very fine needles to introduce the filler into the desired area. Therefore, some pin-point bleeding is to be expected. This stops very quickly.
At London Body Centre, you will have a thorough consultation with the doctor or nurse first to review your medical history and assess your suitability for the lip filler treatment. We listen to your concerns and what you are looking to achieve from the treatment. We will then discuss treatment options and agree a treatment plan with you.
A tiny needle is placed into the area to give the desired results. Some gentle moulding is done as part of the treatment. The process usually takes around 20 mins. There is usually some swelling after the treatment; this can be reduced with the application of an ice pack. We may ask you to do this for a few minutes after the treatment.
Initially, there is some swelling and the lips may feel bigger than you would like. However, please bear in mind that the swelling will soon go down to reveal the final result. This usually takes a week to 2 weeks but can take longer. We may advise you to apply arnica cream to reduce bruising but it also helps to hydrate the lips as the swelling settles. Occasionally, you may be able to feel the lip filler, in which case gentle massage may be helpful. We are always here to support you after the treatment so anything you are concerned about, you can always return for review. We have seen many cases of lip filler treatments, which have been done at other places that have resulted in visible beads like lumps in the lips. This is not normal and is due to poor technique! The filler should not end up as lumpy nodules in the lips. It should be integrated softly into the lips. Similarly for the smoker’s lines, the filler should give a reduction in the lines without producing speed bumps above the lips!
This varies depending on the product used, the amount of lip filler used and the injector’s technique. There is always some degree of swelling which naturally resolves over a week or two. Application of ice post treatment helps to reduce swelling.
Lip fillers at London Body Centre are only carried out by qualified but even more importantly very experienced doctors and nurses who have been providing this treatment for many years. Your lips should be fuller and smoother without the appearance of lumps inside the lips or above the lips.
The HA lip filler gel will last at least 6 months according to the manufacturer’s literature. However in reality, we have found that lip filler treatments have lasted much longer, in some cases well over 12 months at London Body Centre Please remember when the initial swelling goes down, you may mistake that for the filler not lasting. In these cases, if you prefer the fuller look, another treatment session will help to achieve that.
